The burden of having an early January birthday has always been that I view the entirety of December/January in an intense “New Year, New Me” phase. This innate sense that my personal renewal comes with the year’s renewal drives me to insane levels of planning and organizing and planning how to organize and organizing my plans. That said, I’ve never become a new me. The new year comes and goes. My birthday comes and goes. Maybe I stick with the planner I spent 2 months picking out for about two weeks after my birthday. Thankfully I’ve felt too swamped lately to do much of that this year, which might actually be the first real sign of a new me.
